1000 Books Before Kindergarten
1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he or she enters school. Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that provide a solid foundation that is key to school and learning success. Plus, sharing stories together is fun! It’s easy to get started.
Here’s how the program works:
- Register at the library circulation desk in the Youth Department.
- Read with your child.
- Record the titles on your log.
- When you finish 100 books, bring your log to the library and receive a small prize.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for each 100 books.
After finishing 1,000 books, your child receives a book and a certificate, and gets an awesome jump start on success in school.
