Holds
How can I reserve an item that is already checked out, not available yet, or at another library?
You can place a hold online from the library catalog by entering your library card number and password. You can also call us or stop at the circulation desk, and we’ll place the hold for you.
How will I be notified when my items are available?
When your item arrives at the library, we will notify you via your chosen option (text, email, or phone). We hold items for 7 days. If we miss you, we’ll send the item back into circulation.
Where do I pick up holds?
Holds can be picked up at one of three locations you chose when you place the hold: adult circulation desk, youth circulation desk, or hold lockers. Just present your card. Learn how to manage hold pickup locations.
Renewals
How can I renew an item?
You may renew most items by logging into your account or calling us. Renewals will not be accepted on materials with holds or special loan restrictions.
Fines and Fees
What are the fines for keeping materials after they are due?
Jefferson Public Library is (mostly) fine free! However, various fines apply for specialty items with specific check-out and check-in requirements. Patrons are responsible for understanding these requirements.
How can I pay my account balance?
You may pay with cash or check at the circulation desk. You may also pay online if your balance is greater than $5. (A 5% service fee will be charged for this service.)
